"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, & narrow-mindedness, and many of our
people need it solely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of
men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one corner of the earth all
one's lifetime." -- Mark Twain

WELCOME EVERYONE...

Hello all! I plan to use this blog to chronicle the adventures that Noah and I will undertake as I begin a career as an international teacher. When we get to China, we will not be able to use Facebook, so this will be one way of communicating with family and friends. However, getting to China is still 3 months and a few hurdles away. I decided to go ahead and start the blog to help give everyone some idea of where Noah and I will be living and going to school. Thanks for visiting :)

This is the school that Noah and I will be at - Qingdao No. 1 International School of Shandong - QISS for short. I will be teaching 5 classes (in an 8 period day) ... Grade 6 Earth Science, Grade 7 Life Science, Grade 11 Biology, 6th/7th Grade Communications, and one other course. The idea being floated for the fifth course right now is something with at risk kids and science. Noah will also be at the same school entering pre-K. I think doing this at his age is best since he doesn't really know any different in terms of school. I think it will all be very exciting.

QISS is located in Qingdao (ching-tao), China in the Shandong Province. It is a coastal city on the Yellow Sea that is surrounded with "hills" which I like to call mountains. Above are some pics of Qingdao.
